Lumby was incorporated on Feb 18, 1956. The first elected commissioners were Ernest Pierce, Jim Inglis, George Fisher, Pat Duke and John Kirchsteiger.
Pat Duke served as mayor of Lumby for many years. His leadership and dedication to public life earned him the name “Mr. Lumby”.
Almost 30 years after his passing, N.R. “Pat” Duke continues to support Lumby’s youth through the annual Pat and Gladys Duke (Bessette) Scholarship awarded to a Lumby student furthering their education.
