Rolland: The First French-Canadian Paper Company in Canada

The Compagnie de papier Rolland (Rolland Paper Company) was one of the first industrial concerns in Saint-Jérôme, and made important contributions to the region’s industrial and community development. With a rich history dating back to 1882, this Francophone family-run business staked out terrain on a competitive, mostly Anglophone landscape, making a name for itself across Canada and even beyond.

The Société d’histoire de la Rivière-du-Nord (now Histoire et Archives Laurentides) invites you to explore the story of this “homegrown” Quebec company through this exhibition comprising many archival documents from all eras, including photographs, letters and newspaper articles, along with audio and video clips.
