Strict membership rules enabled the Cradle Club to maintain its exclusiveness.
The rules read, “A member wishing to sponsor a Candidate shall be required to fill out an Application and submit same to the Secretary at least one month before the Executive meets to accept applications.” If the application is accepted by the Executive, “a second application will be sent to the candidate to be completed, signed and returned.” Only when the candidate is “duly elected” and accepts the membership, “the sponsor shall bring the Candidate to the next meeting…and introduce her to each member separately.”
