Transcript of an article dated August 15, 1938, regarding the government’s wish to stop squatting in Abitibi.
“Centralization : Construction of many small villages near the mines should not be allowed. Increased demand for administrative services, water and sewerage systems, public buildings will surely follow. The government understands that squatters will suffer. But the common good must prevail over special interests.”
