The Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH), which opened in 1904 as the Children’s Memorial Hospital, was the first facility in Montreal devoted exclusively to the care of sick children. Its affiliation with McGill University in 1920 strengthened its role as a teaching hospital, providing an important setting for medical illustrators to document pediatric procedures, treatments, and research. By capturing these advancements visually, medical illustrators contributed to education, clinical practice, and the broader understanding of pediatric medicine as the hospital expanded.
