The Montreal General Hospital, founded in 1821, originally stood on Dorchester Street (now René-Lévesque Boulevard) near Chinatown. Its Pathology Building, completed in 1911, reflected the hospital’s growing emphasis on research and medical education. In 1955, the institution relocated to its present site at the foot of Mount Royal on Cedar Avenue, where it continues to serve as a leading centre for teaching and patient care.
