This illustration by Douglas depicts “Xanthosis Diabetica,” a condition associated with diabetes. This drawing offers an excellent comparison between her early watercolour work and the techniques she refined after her training in medical illustration. This is especially notable in the highlights, which show her elevated skill level at understanding light sources.
