Illustration of a brain by Eleanor Sweezey, 1953
Wilder Penfield Fonds, Osler Medical Library, McGill University
In this instructional illustration by Sweezey, her distinct style really emerges in how she renders the gloves of the surgeons. The gloves are not the focus of the illustration as much as the operation, but they still model how the surgeon should hold the tools. She simplified the forms of the gloves to make this clear and reserved the more detailed work for the area of interest.
