Let us regale you with a short story within a larger one! Starting at the end of the 19th century, shoe factories played an important, even essential, role in the town of Contrecœur’s development. From 1883 to 2004, work in these factories is passed on, mostly from father to son and from mother to daughter, bequeathed generation after generation. We can easily say that Contrecœur’s shoe industry is a family story!
This story, which lasted over a century, left few written records. Fortunately, certain people, witnesses of this era, generously agreed to share their memories by telling us about their experiences. We thank them heartily and wish you a pleasant visit!Start reading the story
