The Gaspé Peninsula: 1000 miles of Motoring Grandeur
La Province de Québec Tourist Bureau
Les Amis des Jardins de Métis collection
“Have you ever had a French Canadian vacation?” was the tag line for a series of eight folders produced by the Province of Québec Tourist Bureau. Each brochure presented the province’s destinations differently, portraying two young women with slight variations in their attire as they visit Montreal, Quebec City, the Laurentians, the Majestic St. Lawrence, the Eastern Townships, and Lac St-Jean, Charlevoix-Saguenay – Laurentides Park.
When it came to the Gaspésie, the modern dames and their swinging liberty were still accompanied by ox-carts and genteel farmers, indicating an ongoing reluctance on the part of advertisers to promote the region as a completely modern destination.
