Not Too One Way or the Other

Dani: I think there’s like a lot of- especially right now- assumptions about Alberta and, like, the culture climate there. I think, at least like from my perspective, and where I was- where I grew up in Edmonton, I was definitely part of, like, the sort of more artistic indie crowd at the time in, like, the 2000s. And I think that opened me up to just like a lot of different perspectives on art and style, and yeah, just ways of existing in different spaces.
And I think as I got older, I mean, I always knew I was different, like I’m neurodivergent. So, I’ve always not operated in a linear way, and I’ve always just been a fluid person on multiple levels.
So, in terms of like my style, I think that definitely follows the same type of pattern. I think I’ve always been somebody that enjoys style and experimentation with my own style but I think, like as I’ve sort of embraced my own non-binary identity, I have gravitated towards, and I’ve definitely internalized, more like the outer view or how I’m viewed by others, which has its pros and cons, of like the choices you make in your wardrobe, for sure. But it is something that I put a lot of stock and thought into when I’m deciding what to wear for the day.
In my younger years, I definitely tried to stand out and experiment with like different crazy things that I’d wear, but these days I try to just, like, blend in more to the background, so that I’m, like not too one way or the other, this or that. It’s just,
I’m there.
