Conclusion

Wireless stations no longer operate in Newfoundland and Labrador—at least, not as they used to. However, we can still appreciate their impact today. Thousands of lives that could have been lost at sea were saved because of Marconi radios. Rural communities were able to connect to the rest of the world. The Canadian Marconi Company is still in operation today. Now known as CMC Electronics, it makes navigation and communication equipment for aircrafts.

It is incredible to think that Marconi’s journey in Newfoundland and Labrador began with the sound of three faint clicks. But it was that moment that won Marconi the support he needed to develop his technology and to pave the way for wireless communications’ important role.
