The Chapel

Inside the historic church at the Josiah Henson Museum of African-Canadian History, a richly carved wooden pulpit stands on a raised platform, its Gothic-inspired details carefully preserved. To the side, a small wooden stand holds a metal lantern, bringing us back to a time before electricity. Painted wooden pews line the room, and the worn floorboards reflect the layered history of the space, a place once filled with sermons, song, culture, freedom, and community gathering.
