Seed catalogue
Auguste Dupuis, catalogue of plants at the Saint-Roch-des-Aulnaies nursery, 1894-1985.
Text: La Seigneurie des Aulnaies. Document: Archives de la Côte-du-Sud, Auguste Dupuis Collection.
To promote his nursery’s products, Auguste Dupuis began buying newspaper ads and distributing his product catalogue in 1868.
Apple trees were a prominent feature of the catalogue. The nursery also offered plum trees, French cherry trees, pear trees, and gooseberry bushes. Over the years, the company expanded its offering to include ornamental trees, flowers, and even sod in the 1950s. After Auguste Dupuis’ death, the company grew significantly. By 1957, it had three branches located in Chicoutimi, Quebec City, and Saint-Romuald.
