Lucien Dubé
Lucien Dubé Estate.
Born on May 2, 1911, in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière to Joseph Dubé and Rosanna Pelletier, Lucien Dubé studied at the parish school and then at the École supérieure d’agriculture de Sainte-Anne-de-La-Pocatière (Faculty of Agriculture at Laval University) for three years before continuing his studies in botany. He married Géraldine Anctil in 1936. Following his studies with Maurice Proulx (filmmaker) and Elzéar Campagna (botanist), he held various key positions related to his Alma Mater, such as laboratory demonstrator in botany, technician at the school of agriculture, and assistant in plant pathology for the federal government.
Passionate about history and deeply invested in preserving the heritage of the Côte-du-Sud region, he was very active in the cultural development of the area along with his fellow agronomists, professors, and researchers at the École supérieure d’agriculture, Elzéar Campagna and Henri Généreux. His involvement extended to the horticulture and natural history societies of La Pocatière, as well as the nascent Société historique de la Côte-du-Sud and the Musée François-Pilote (now the Musée québécois de l’agriculture et de l’alimentation).
