Life in a logging camp
Archives de la Côte-du-Sud, Paul-André Leclerc Collection.
In November, many people from the region would gather in the logging camps where they worked six days a week, from morning till night. The work involved felling trees, cutting them into logs, and transporting them, all of which required great physical strength.
The workers lived in wooden cabins or barracks, often without adequate insulation. Despite the difficult conditions, there was a strong sense of camaraderie among the workers. Meal and rest times were opportunities to socialize and strengthen ties.
