Kamouraska, from Grosse île
McCord Stewart Museum, Public Domain.
Kamouraska from Grosse Île, August 1874, Anna Dawson Harrington (1851-1917), watercolour.
This work captures the magnificent view of Kamouraska from Grosse Île, with its precious glimpses of the Bas-Saint-Laurent landscapes in the 19th century. Using watercolour, Harrington managed to capture fine details and variations in light, creating a vivid and dynamic image. The transparency of the watercolour allowed for subtle rendering of light and shadow effects.
