Gilles Mathieu

In 2009, he received the medal of the National Assembly of Québec for his exceptional contribution to Québec culture.

In 2010, he was named Chevalier de l’Ordre de la Pléiade for his contribution to the values of cooperation and friendship for the Francophonie.

Gilles Mathieu remains a proud Valdavidois. In the 1990s, he decided to create a Museum of Québec Song, by recreating a theatre. As of 2023, he is still working on it. The municipality of Val-David has held several commemorative events—exhibitions and shows—over the past three decades.

In 2021, an exhibition about the Butte à Mathieu and its creator will be presented as part of the Centennial of the municipality of Val-David.
