Striking Ladysmith Coal Miners Marched Off To Jail By Militia Soldiers

After the riots in Ladysmith and Extension, striking miners were rounded up and arrested by the militia and marched off to jail. Most were held without bail until their trials. Although some faced assault charges, most were charged only with unlawful assembly and picketing. Many received prison sentences.
