Ladysmith City Band with uniforms

Source: Ladysmith Archives
Date: Circa 1905
The Ladysmith City Band, after having acquired uniforms through public donations, i.e. after about 1905. Note that the third of three trombonist, on the left, is a valve trombonist. Several euphoniums (of various sizes), a tuba, a couple of cornets, and several clarinetists also made up the band, along with the drummer.
Interesting that the conductor shown here is probably I. G. Whitcombe, who, in fact, was a cornetist who was usually playing with the band.
