Headstone Of Moses Webley Killed In Extension Mine

Moses Webley was one of the younger persons killed in the mines at Extension in 1909 – his death was a separate accident from that which claimed 32 lives on October 5th of that year. Moses was one of two persons whose deaths by accident in the Extension Mines were announced on the first page of the Ladysmith Chronicle on Wednesday, June 9, 1909.
The headstone with carved inscription reads “In memory of Moses, son of T & A Webley. Native son of Northfield B.C. who met his death in Extension Mine, June 7, 1909, aged 14 years 6 months. Gone but not forgotten.”
