Early View Of Town Of Ladysmith

Source: Ladysmith Archives
Date: Circa 1900
View of the town looking south: at left, the E&N railway track leading to the newly constructed two-story station. Only the Esplanade, Roberts Street and First Avenue are partially developed, with tree stumps evident in the open areas between buildings. The large white building in the centre housed Gould’s Store on the ground level and a hall on the upper level, which was used for dances, banquets, concerts, plays, political rallies etc.
