Music has always played an important and enjoyable role in churches, and today’s are no exception. The Rock Christian Fellowship and Oceanview Community Church feature music prominently in their worship.

[Chris Burness] Okay, let’s play again together.
[Two men and a woman sit on a sofa.]
[Lisa Burness] So I think it’s a two-way thing, you know, you’re praising God and also you’re kind of affirming of the truth of what you believe.
[Chris Burness] It’s an expression of love for everything.
[L.B] The purpose of the fellowship is connection. It’s a connection with each other and being part of something that’s outside of yourself.
[C.B] I think when we first started the group, we started as a group of musicians being together. It was always quite intimate, and we always said we wanted the “Rock” to be a family. And that’s how we want people to feel, you want to come and feel that you’re part of a family that you belong to. I think we’re a good group for that.
[Music]
[L.B] We wrote that for you. You’re the first people to hear it ever!
[Applause]

Lowly and small, the weakest of all, unlikeliest Hero wrapped in his mother’s shawl. Just a Child, is this who we’ve waited for?
How many kings stepped down from their thrones?
How many lords have abandoned their homes?
How many greats have become the least for me?
And how many gods have poured out their hearts to romance a world that is torn all apart? How many…
[Music fades out slowly]
