Removed from Wellington and re-erected in Ladysmith in 1901, the simple but elegant wooden hall used as the Presbyterian Church in Ladysmith in the foreground became the United Church after the merger of the Presbyterian and Methodist churches in 1925. The small building immediately behind the church was, for a time, the manse, but later was joined to the church for use as a classroom when the single-story manse was built behind it.
The United church remains today. Modifications to the building include a rectangular entrance tower and gable end porch, but otherwise, the building retains its original external characteristics.
