Julie Michaud

I was first hired by Le Nouvelliste in 2001, as a sales consultant. At the time, I wasn’t aiming to join the management team. But then, in 2017, I was offered a position as Director of Special Projects and Media Creativity.

In that role, I started to develop a strategic media vision. I went on to be named Sales Director in 2020 and General Manager in 2024. At the same time, I became the regional business development manager for the media cooperative Le Nouvelliste belongs to, along with five other newspapers.

I’m delighted to have taken the helm and for the opportunity to help steer the development of our newspaper during a difficult time in the media sector. The position represents an important step in my career, and I’m determined to bring all my experience to bear, while also promoting a culture of innovation and collaboration.

Working at this level means I can take a step back, reflect on the organization’s future and actively engage in strategic decision-making.

Regarding the status of women in journalism and in management positions, there is clearly more to do in terms of achieving true equality.

Despite the progress made in recent decades, it will be vital to continue fostering inclusion, not only at the recruitment stage but also when recognizing talent and providing leadership opportunities.
