On October 9, 1994, the famous Louiseville Buckwheat Pancake Festival parade was held for the 17th time. Intended as a celebration of buckwheat, a crop key to the town’s prosperity, the festival provided an opportunity to promote this grain that had developed a bad reputation due to its association with poverty. Over the years, the festival has continued to grow. It features a range of activities, including the parade along Saint-Laurent Street.
