Founded in 1971 by environmentalists opposed to American nuclear testing, Greenpeace is an international non-governmental organization committed to environmental justice. On September 22, 1990, Greenpeace members protested against the Gentilly-2 Nuclear Generating Station on the St. Lawrence River.
