Rise of Toxic Masculinity in Schools

After the airing of a miniseries called Alpha and an appearance by certain “manosphere” influencers on the talk show Tout le monde en parle, several journalists expressed concerns regarding the rise of toxic masculinity and its impact on the region’s secondary schools. At a time when the issue was mainly associated with the province’s larger cities (Quebec City and Montreal), journalist Paule Vermot-Desroches published an investigative analysis of the situation at schools in the Trois-Rivières area. She also pointed out that giving proponents of toxic masculinity access to a media platform like Tout le monde en parle only draws the attention of young people susceptible to their message.
