Mass Hunger Clinic

To challenge Ontario’s low welfare and disability rates, the Ontario Coalition Against Poverty organized Mass Hunger Clinics. At these clinics, sympathetic doctors prescribed “Special Diet” supplements of $250 per person per month to thousands of people on welfare. The Mass Hunger Clinics provided opportunities for people on welfare and disability payments to discuss collective action.
