New developments at the agricultural school

The school’s experimental orchard was planted in 1913. Five years later, in 1918, the first fruits were ready for tasting…CRUNCH!
Around 1919, the school’s agronomy course was introduced. It focused more specifically on agriculture than did the course offered in the following decades. In 1940, the school became a faculty with a much more scientific curriculum. Adults still had access to courses. Specialized courses, such as fruit growing, were offered. The orchard had nearly 600 trees.
In 1962, Université Laval moved its Faculty of Agriculture to Quebec City. The Collège de Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière sold its assets associated with the Corporation de l’École d’agriculture to the Quebec government. The Institut de technologie agricole was created and agricultural training continued in La Pocatière. The Institut de technologie agroalimentaire du Québec was born In 2021. The institute in La Pocatière becomes one of its campuses.
