Celebrating a legacy of orchards and their growers

The orchards on the Côte-du-Sud

Have you ever picked fruit warmed by the sun? Did you immediately bite into its warm, juicy flesh? It’s an experience you can’t miss! You have to visit an orchard in order to experience or relive this sheer pleasure.

Starting in midsummer, orchards welcome people who have come to pick their first tree-ripened fruit. Orchards are a good place to meet people who, week after week, year after year, feel the urge to stock up on cherries, plums, pears and apples. These fruits, eaten fresh, baked or canned, are a must for real connoisseurs.

Orchards are also popular with families. Two or three generations may gather there at a time. Parents often take advantage of the opportunity to teach their children that certain fruits grow on trees. This gives them a chance to meet orchard owners and learn about the fruit grown in our region. It’s a wonderful discovery activity.

We dedicate this exhibition to families.

Thanks to some exceptional people aged 6 to 79, this exhibition offers you a rendezvous with knowledge, flavours and history. These people will tell you all about the origins of orchards in Quebec, and more specifically about the surprising history of fruit tree cultivation on the Côte-du-Sud.

Get ready for a journey back in time.
