The making of wax fruits is an art. The fruits are made by hand with warm beeswax. Some are cast in molds, others are sculpted. The color is applied last.
It is the Augustine who are said to have introduced the art of making wax fruits, flowers and the Christ Child. Other religious congregations have also practiced this art, including the Soeurs de la charité and the Congrégation Notre-Dame.
