An experimental farm is a place for doing research. The one founded in Sainte-Anne-de-la-Pocatière focused on better soil management, plant cultivation and animal husbandry, not to mention the control of pests (insects and disease). This federal research station led to a better understanding and use of chemistry in agriculture.
The “Farm”, as the locals called it at the time, helped to improve the daily lives of farmers. Fruit production benefited from the research carried out in its huge orchards.
As of the 21st century, the experimental farm has become a bio-food development centre.
