Pierre Jeffrey acquired an orchard in Cap-Saint-Ignace to which he welcomed pickers. They asked him to offer other products. M. Jeffrey now grows blueberries, squash, pumpkins and other vegetables to everyone’s satisfaction, but his orchard is still what he likes the best.

The further we head into fall, the closer we get to the picking season. Even now, in late July, cherries are being picked.

After that, it’ll be summer apples, in late August, early September. After that, we’ll have plums.
And different varieties of apples:
[M. Jeffrey looks at the panel listing the different types of apples: Cortland, Empire, Liberty, Lobo, McIntosh.]
we have some that are earlier and some that are later; we just have to deal with that.
[Back to M. Jeffrey’s face, followed by an aerial view of the orchard and a family picking fruit.]
During the berry season, in fall, when we first start selling, we sell mainly at kiosks or pick-your-own farms, because I don’t have enough volume to say that we can sell at wholesalers.
[A woman stands in front of a display of different varieties of squash and pumpkins. M. Jeffrey shows them to her.]
We had a request for other fruits and vegetables: pumpkins, garlic and squash. We mix up a bit of everything.
[A woman and a little girl each bite into an apple. Then M. Jeffrey reappears as a merchant in his orchard.]
So, at the end of the day, my orchard is my priority. It’s the apple orchard, the berry orchard. That’s my favourite hobby.
