Born in 1951, Gilbert Gardner moved with his family to Saint-Eustache in 1964. Living in the Grande-Côte area, he eventually became an employee of what was then the Parish of Saint-Eustache. At that time, he was responsible for organizing recreation in the area, and he threw a lot of energy into the role. In 1972, after the Parish merged with the Village, Gilbert Gardner became the new City’s first director of social and cultural activities. In 1973, along with Paul Tardif, then recreation director, Gilbert Gardner organized the first edition of what would become the Fêtes du Vieux Saint-Eustache. Gilbert Gardner made an enormous contribution to the cultural life and profile of the City of Saint-Eustache.
