Knitathon on rue Saint-Eustache

Around twenty women, some young and others older, are sitting in a row along Rue Saint-Eustache, knitting. In front of them, a crowd of about fifty people is watching them.

For a few years, a knitathon was organized as part of the Fêtes du Vieux Saint-Eustache. All the women who participated in the event had the same needles and the same wool, and the aim was to knit a designated piece as fast as possible. This unusual knitting competition, which lasted several hours, attracted crowds of onlookers, as can be seen in the photo.
