McGill College Avenue Synagogue Trowel, 1885

An inscribed metal trowel on a black surface. The inscription reads "Presented by the German and Polish Congregation to John E. Moss Esquire, President, on the occasion of his laying the corner stone of the new synagogue on McGill College Ave. Montreal. Heshvan, 12th, 5656. October 21st, 1885".

Ceremonial trowel presented to synagogue president John E. Moss (1845-1902) on the occasion of the laying of the cornerstone of the new building on McGill College Avenue.

The inscription reads; Presented by the German and Polish Congregation to John E. Moss Esq. on the occasion of his laying the cornerstone of the New Synagogue on McGill college Ave. Montreal, October 21st, 1885.
