WE MOURN OUR LOSS
Just a few hours after the conclusion of our solemn Yom Kippur Services, our beloved Rabbi, Dr. Herman Abramowitz, was called by the Great Architect of the Universe to join the company on High.
To his wife and family, we offer our deepest sympathy, with the hope that they will be given strength to bear their great loss, and that they will be somewhat consoled by the memory of his fine life devoted to the service of the Almighty and his people,
We of his beloved Congregation shall greatly miss our revered and distinguished spiritual leader of close to half a century. We shall miss the hand that moulded the character and tone of our Congregation in its services and in every phase of its manifold educational, cultural, social and religious activities.
We shall miss his commanding presence, his inspired messages on Sabbaths and Holy Days, and the personal example in his daily life that he gave us.
We shall miss the dignified and astute leadership he gave to the larger community in every worthwhile cause.
We humbly pray that his memory will serve as an inspiration to all of us, and that both as a Congregation and as individuals we shall carry out in practice his precepts and example.
As we solemnly and humbly pay tribute to the memory of Rabbi Dr. Herman Abramowitz, of respected and revered memory, we bow to the inscrutable will of the Almighty, and with deep humility repeat the passage from our liturgy:
[in Hebrew script is written] The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; Blessed be the name of the LORD.
