On August 16, 1981, at the occasion of the 109th birthday of Sister Louise Légère, the Ordre of Saint Lazare gave a silver medal to sister Louise Légère.
Bronze medals were also given to: sisters Roseline Légère, Alice Albert, Marie Blanche Daigle, Louisa Landry, Marie de Lorette Landry, Victoria Branch and Ina Branche which worked with the lepers at the lazaretto of Tracadie.

Mr. Robert Pichette was the instigator of this event. Sister Ina died suddenly September 13th and sister Louise Légère died on December 9th of the same year, 1981. Both were 109 years old.
