The Hochwald

Late in February the advance resumed and the regiment entered Germany and fought in operations "Veritable," "Blockbuster" and the battle for the Hochwald Gap. After a period of rest in Holland, the LSR(M) resumed the advance into Germany at the end of March. The Lake Sups battled their way through Meppen, Sögel, Friesoythe, across the Küsten Canal, Bad Zeischenahn and some members of the unit reaching the outskirts of Wilhelmshaven at the time of the German surrender. In eleven months of fighting the LSR lost 151 killed and suffered 577 wounded and won 71 decorations for valour and bravery.
