A stanza from Dr. S.E. Björnsson’s poem “Móðurmálið” (Mother tongue) published in the 1960 issue of Tímarit Þjóðræknisfélags Íslendinga. In the poem, Dr. Björnsson refers to the Icelandic language as the migrant Icelanders’ “Arfurinn dýrsti” (most precious heirloom).
