Frank arrived in Mossbank on April 4 and began working with a relative, Mike Runge, who was also a blacksmith. As well, he worked in the towns of Mazenod and Limerick while honing his English skills. In 1927, he bought the blacksmith shop from the Blaine brothers. It had been built in the early 1920s by Harry Wiseman, a blacksmith from Ontario. It was tin sided and had the "false front" common on many commercial buildings of the era.
