In 1905 the Anglo Newfoundland Development Company Limited bought the Lewis Miller timber licenses from the Newfoundland Timber Estates Company, to supply pulpwood to a paper mill to be built on the Exploits River at Grand Falls.
The town that Lewis Miller built was used by the Anglo Newfoundland Company from 1905 until 1926 when plans to raise the level of the lake included moving the town.

The front section of the sawmill was first used by the Exploits Valley Royal Stores and as the Anglo Newfoundland Development Company supply store was in the rear of the building.

The Anglo Newfoundland Development Company added a steeple to the church with a bell tower for which a new window was placed above the entrance. The old vertical siding was covered with clapboard, trimmed and painted.
