Pither's Point Park was established as a favourite community recreation spot. A 99 year land lease was signed with Treaty Three in 1910.

Located on the shores of Rainy Lake, the park was named for RJN Pither, who once had his home here. Coming to Fort Frances with the Hudson Bay Company, he later served as Indian agent.

The Shevlin Clarke Company arrived in 1912 to overtake much of the east end of Fort Frances with it's two large sawmills. The site today is "The Sorting Gap" marina.

The Shevlin Clarke mill was built on the old site of the Reid Sawmill. It continued in operation until 1942.

After the construction of the dam, the Fort Frances Paper mill was constructed on the site of the 1905 Front Street fire. Completed in 1912, the mill continued to expand in this location.
