W.T. "Doc" Cruickshank's Vision ...

"By the time the station celebrated its 25th anniversary in 1951, Doc Cruickshank was already looking ahead, talking of the coming of television to the area. The first television station in all of Canada was not to take to the air for another year but Doc was confident that soon CKNX would have a television station too. (VS-1, 1976)

This was stated in the 25th Anniversary booklet put out in 1951 to celebrate 25 years of radio - "As for the future, it is the policy of CKNX to keep abreast of technical developments. No doubt, if and when Television becomes feasible in small centers and when seemingly unsurmountable difficulties have been cleared up, CKNX too will be televising as well as broadcasting. In conclusion, an invitation is extended to all interested in the technical operations of CKNX and you are welcome at any time to visit either the studios or transmitter for a more detailed description." (25th Anniversary, 1951)

Doc Cruickshank wrote this in a letter in the station's 25th Anniversary booklet - "While our progress during the past ten years has been beyond my fondest hopes, I look with confidence to the future, believing that with continued loyalty of the listeners, we may continue to serve our audience, and we will be constantly looking for new ways to serve, and to keep the station an integral part of Western Ontario, THE CKNX COMMUNITY."
