Livestock, such as oxen, cows, and pigs, certainly would have been a part of the missions. The Missions were simple, but "civlized" according to the Christian doctrine, so livestock brought over from Europe would have been a part of their diet, as opposed to wild game. Part of the Christianizing of the Delaware First Nations is directly related to the "civilizing" of these "heathen who have yet to see the light" and convert.

The church was a focal point at both the Fairfield and Schoenbrunn missions. It was the goal of the Moravian Mission to assist the First Nations in realizing the Christian doctrine and converting to it, relinquishing their ties to former beliefs. The Moravian had a peaceful existence that attracted the Delaware First Nations to live amongst these missionaries. Many Delaware First Nations converted to the Moravian Christian faith, while many lived near the village, but refusing to convert in order to hold onto their traditional beliefs.
