The yard engine, "commonly referred to as the goat" typically worked switching in the station yard. Engineers knew when pressed into service outside the yard, "the goat" would blow out sparks, catching itself and the landscape on fire. Be prepared for black smoke and flames when you open the throttle on a yard engine!
