Like their famous ancestor, a number of Charles-Alfred's descendants will also demonstrate a flair for business. Luc Martin, Ida's son, and Joseph's grandson, buys the Desjardins Company in 1978 after working there for 33 years. Others will become well known in very different fields. One illustration of this is the recognition the family's musical talents will acquire outside the region. For example, Gilbert Darisse, Éva's son will become first violin of the Orchestre symphonique de Québec.

In 1987, the village of Saint-André was reunified, giving it the same structure it had at the beginning of the 20th century. The village of Andréville, created by the political pressure exerted by Charles-Alfred, became once more part of the parish after more than 80 years of autonomy. The population of Saint-André now numbers slightly more than 600 permanent residents.

Pointe-Sèche, the area in which Charles-Alfred Roy, known as Desjardins, lived during his childhood, has been abandoned. All that can be found are a few remains of that fruitful period when several families lived just below the manor house. Even the old manor house has been left in a state of neglect for many years.
