The pulpit placed to one side of the platform is not typical of Baptist Churches. Usually it is centered on the platform to symbolize the focus of Baptists on preaching the "Word of God" -from the Bible. In most churches an open Bible is placed on the communion table in front of the pulpit to symbolize the Bible's importance in the church's ministry and in the lives of its members.

The speaker's pulpit. Although there are no restrictions as to the size and shape of a pulpit, this one is typical. It stands about three and one-half feet tall and has a slanted top where the speaker can place his/her Bible and sermon notes.

The empty cross is often featured at the front of the sanctuary in a Baptist Church. Some use a small cross while others have a very prominent cross. The cross is always empty to signify the Christ has risen and is alive!

On the right side there are 5 rows of seats. The back pew had been removed at the time the basement was completed. The short wall behind the seat marks the stairway to the basement.

The seats (pews) in this church are quite different in style from most other churches in the slope of the pew end and the 'curl' in the arm rest.

Calhoun was not immune to the movement of people from the small communities around to the larger community of Moncton. By 1992 there were so few families showing interest that the Sunday School programme ceased. The small congregation continues to meet weekly for Sunday services.

The church building had been moved to Calhoun. The cemetery located at the original site at Gaytons remained neglected for years. From 1990 to 1993 much work was made to improve the site.
