Doctor Smith was medical superintendant of the lazaretto from 1866 to 1909.

The residence of the medical superintendant of the lazaretto was built by the federal government circa 1910. That residence was the home of Doctor Langis and his family until 1933 and then Doctor W. T. Ryan until his death in 1939.

Between 1943 and 1946, that residence was used to house the 8 lepers after the lazaretto burned down in 1943.

The family residence and office of Doctor Aldoria Robichaud and Édith Robichaud of Tracadie, built between 1939 and 1940.

Dr. Robichaud was a surgeon at the Hôtel-Dieu Saint Joseph from 1934 to 1972 and was the lazaretto's superintendant from 1939 until its closure in 1965
